Cleaning

Before washing we remove sand, dust or stains and examine the object on the risk of colour run,and if necessary, fix torn areas. 

The material is soaked in water and then washed by hand,  using natural detergents.

Then the cleaned material is laid out in specially designed spaces with strict temperature control and allowed to dry.

A dry and clean material displays its true colours and pattern.

Restoration

The first  step is cleaning. Hereafter we determine which yarns are fit for to be used for the restoration.

A meticulous process that can also be very delicate.

As it is absolutely paramount that all the characteristics of the yarns such as their making, the colours and their hue, diameter and the direction of twist be exact copies of the composing strands.

In some cases, and for certain reasons, a section of the carpet should be taken out, and a new piece must be woven. That's why we use mostly antique wool from old and antique kilims or djidjims.

We unravel the thread (wool ), if necessary dye it and prepare it to restore other carpets.

We have the necessary expertise and experience to colour our own strands, using natural-based dyes and obtain an exact match.

The final step consists of putting our craftsmanship into work and expertly obliterate the damaged portion by weaving or re-knotting .

Practically all of our customers are stunned by what they see. The result obviously exceeds all of their expectations.

Conservation

Old and antique carpets and rugs need, like all other valuable objects, maintenance. Such as cleaning,fixation of the upper and lower ends and both sides of the carpets, rugs or kilims.

Good maintenance increases the lifetime of your carpets.
